Maths in the early stages is crucial

Early Primary maths is important especially counting!

The developmental counting stages are:

  • Perceptual / see amount one to one correspondance
  • Figurative/ visualise items solve problem
  • Initial Number sequence/ability to count on from no not go back
  • Number sequence implicity/counting down re subtraction
  • Number sequence explicity/ aware of inverse operations ie. number families add & subtract G2 multiply & divide G4
